Discover the Woman in You

We were very excited to have Rosie Batty as our guest speaker at two events to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Thursday 12 March at Groomed to Go, 25 Ross Smith Avenue East, Frankston
Wednesday 18 March at the Chisholm Skills and Jobs Centre, 311 Lonsdale Street, Dandenong

20 women experienced a full day of pampering with individual hair styling, makeup application, a one-on-one dressing session with new clothes supplied, plus career coaching to jump start the year. Our guest speaker Rosie Batty attended the lunch and was a wonderful speaker, fielding many questions. Many organisations sponsored the event, adding much value to the take-away gift bags.

International Women’s Day Luncheon 2020

The guest speakers at the 2020 International Women’s Day Luncheon on Wednesday 4 March 2020 were Judge Samantha Marks and Deborah Lawrie AM. Samantha Marks QC has been a barrister at the Victorian Bar since 1989. She was appointed Senior Counsel for the State of Victoria in 2010, Queen’s Counsel in 2014, and a judge of the County Court in 2016. Deborah Lawrie was the first woman to become a pilot with a major Australian airline after winning a landmark sex discrimination case against Ansett Airlines.

This was an opportunity for local business women (and men) to connect, while enjoying a delicious 2-course luncheon and glass of wine. Sharing, inspiring, networking and empowering within our community, and contributing to the charity Groomed to Go operating as Dress for Success South East Melbourne. All had a wonderful day: both speakers have had amazing careers and were inspirational.

Annual Classic Golf Day 2020

Our Annual Classic Golf Day was held on Friday 7 February 2020. It was a fun day of golf, auctions and prizes. The day started with muffins and coffee, followed by a game of golf, then players and guests went back to the clubroom for a scrumptious two-course lunch. A great Thank You to our Gold sponsors Caring for You!

Open Garden at Moat’s Corner

On Saturday 9 November to Sunday 10 November 2019, one of our valued volunteers, Alison Swift, opened her beautiful garden at Moats’ Corner, 415 White Hill Road, Dromana, to the public as part of Open Gardens Victoria. This garden was the passion of Jean Duncan, who first established it in 1950. Today it is a wonderful mix of old and new. Paths weave under pergolas, arches, arbors and gazebos, past a 130-year-old Cypress driveway, along with 400 roses that will be an absolute delight in November. There are numerous themed gardens set around a stunning new home to explore. You will find the Japanese garden, Sunken Rose garden, the White Garden, and a lake fringed with yellow water iris, inspired by the works of Monet.

Check out the Open Gardens Victoria website.

Alison and her family elected to donate their share of the gate takings to Groomed to Go – we are extremely grateful for their generosity and consideration!

WomenConnect Lunch 4 September 2019

We had a wonderful day on Wednesday 4 September 2019. Another wonderful luncheon hosted by WomenConnect Frankston.

Sandra Pankurst lunch

The guest speaker on the day is the wonderful Sandra Pankhurst, esteemed founder of Australia’s largest trauma cleaning business, and publicly renowned for her book The Trauma Cleaner. We heard her story of immeasurable sympathy and strength, in her presentation on her incredible, and at many times, difficult life.

This was an opportunity for local business women (and men) to connect, while enjoying a delicious 2 course luncheon and glass of wine.
