Information sessions are held regularly throughout the year to outline our company’s mission, and the crucial role that our volunteers play.
Where: 25 Ross Smith Avenue East, Frankston (near the Bayside Food Court exit)
When: Monthly. The next session is on Monday 22 July, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

Events Team Leader

The Events Team leader is the driving force in identifying, planning, coordinating and managing fundraising events. Securing revenue streams through various events is critical to the ongoing success of Groomed to Go. The Events Team Leader will be responsible for recommending events to the Committee of Management for approval, and managing these events from end to end while supported by a team of volunteers.

Key Skills:

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about fundraising
  • Brainstorm creative fundraising ideas
  • Ability to facilitate volunteer engagement
  • Strong project management skills
  • Basic budgeting and forecasting skills

Hours for role: Variable depending upon events calendar – up to 20 hours per month.

Community Engagement Team Leader

The Community Engagement Team Leader is responsible for managing a group of volunteers, who work towards developing and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing referral agencies. This involves promoting our boutique services, career centre, and post-employment programs to Job Active Providers and community groups. Success in this role leads to stronger partnerships between Groomed to Go and referral agencies, resulting in better outcomes for clients.

Key Skills:

  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to articulate the benefits of partnering with Groomed to Go

Hours for role: Varied and flexible, on average 15 hours per week.

Community Engagement Volunteer

A fantastic opportunity for outgoing individuals to build vital relationships between Groomed to Go and our community partners, including local employment services, community groups, and schools, enabling more people in need to find our services.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to communicate the value of our services
  • Managing and maintaining the relationship between Groomed to Go and existing partners
  • Building and facilitating new relationships to help our organisation connect to clients

Hours for role: Varied and flexible, on average 10 hours per month.

Career Centre Team Leader Smart Blokes

As the Career Centre Team Leader, you will manage a team of volunteers, including workshop presenters and interview coaches, ensuring that appropriate, high-quality development workshops are provided to clients. You will be the first point of contact for clients attending workshops and coaching sessions, and you will oversee the booking processes, selection of presenters, and monitor the effectiveness of each program.

  • Understanding of modern learning and development initiatives
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of workshops and other programs
  • Strong communication and organisation skills

Hours for role: Varied and flexible, one to two days per week.

Stock Controller Smart Blokes

Do you love an organised wardrobe? We need your help managing the range of donations we receive. Your contribution will ensure that quality garments are provided to our clients.

Key Skills:

  • Visual and stylistic organisation for clothing
  • Ability to lift and pack heavy boxes of garments
  • Sorting, ironing and tagging of our garments, making them presentable for the boutique

Hours for role: Varied according to the stock received.

Stylists for women and men

Have you got a passion for fashion? We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to take on the role of Stylists for women in our Dress for Success South East Melbourne program, and for men in our Smart Blokes program.

Key Skills:

  • Strong customer focus and empathy
  • Greeting clients and ensuring they feel welcome
  • Finding professional, work appropriate clothing for clients
  • Provide positive feedback throughout the styling experience

Hours for role: Hours are Monday to Thursday 9:45 am – 3:30 pm. Stylists are rostered on specific days according to their requests. You will be expected to volunteer from one to several days per month.

Career Mentors for women and men

The Career Mentor provides professional coaching, guidance, and support to clients seeking employment opportunities. As a Career Mentor, you will work one-on-one with clients to understand their career goals, and support them through practical advice, tools, and techniques to help them achieve their goals. Your ultimate purpose is to build the capability and confidence of clients, thus improving their employment prospects. Follow-ups with clients are provided to strengthen employment retention with additional coaching opportunities.

Key Skills:

  • Strong customer focus
  • Up to date knowledge of professional career tools including but not limited to a quality resume, and LinkedIn profile
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Strong empathy and understanding

Hours for role: The Career Mentor service hours are Monday – Thursday, 9:45 am – 3:30 pm. Mentors are rostered on specific days according to their requests. You will be expected to volunteer from one to several days per month.

Training requirements: Initially 3 hours and ongoing as required.

Sales Coordinator

A senior volunteer role, you will be responsible for managing and running the retail shop for Dress for Success at 25 Ross Smith Avenue, East Frankston. You will oversee a small team of Front of House volunteers, ensuring the store is appropriately set up and ready for sale, as well as holding accountability for safe cash handling.

  • Passion for fashion and sales
  • Professional demeanour and presentation
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Computer literacy

Hours for role: The shop is open Monday to Thursday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, and Friday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. The Sales Coordinator will delegate daily tasks to trusted volunteers, but needs to be in attendance at least one day per week.

Front-of-House staff

Front-of-House staff oversee our retail shop in East Frankston, greeting clients and customers upon arrival and creating a welcoming, warm atmosphere. Other duties include directing clients and customers to appropriate areas, maintaining the presentation of sale items, organising and replenishing stock, and safe cash handling.

  • Strong customer service skills
  • Passion for fashion and sales
  • Computer literacy

Hours for role: The shop is open Monday to Thursday 10:00 am – 3:00 pm, and Friday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm, and so shifts are within those hours. Half day shifts are possible.
